Welcome to a time of rebirth and rejuvenation! Spring is blooming here in the Northern Hemisphere and it reminds us to realign with nature’s rhythms through inviting a period of cleansing and renewal, not only for our physical body and surroundings, but also for our inner world as well.
Today we’ll explore the essence of spring, exploring its energetic invitations, the significance of shedding and cleansing on multiple levels, and the pivotal role our inner children, or The Initiate, as it’s referred to on InnerSpark’s Wheel, play during this season. Let’s dive in!

The Significance of Spring
As winter gives way to spring, Nature undergoes a profound transformation, symbolized by the merging and alchemy of earth and water. Which of course creates mud – structure, fertility, possibilities.
All life comes from mud.
This season, rich in all things mud, signals a departure from winter’s dryness, embodying the Ayurvedic principle of Kapha—characterized by qualities of heaviness, steadiness, and moisture.
This is a time to visit our structures, our foundations, and to weed out anything that creates unnecessary heaviness, dullness, or lethargy.
It’s a time inherently designed for detoxification and renewal, providing an ideal backdrop for vibrant health in the months to follow.
Detoxes have become trendy in the last few decades. Harsh practices and self-abuse are not what I am referring to here. When it comes to detoxification, less is more and allowance are the name of the game. It’s important to remember to detoxify, as in to release, shed, purify, on all levels – not just the body.
Detoxification on All Levels: Spring challenges us to consider what we need to release – in our physical bodies, spaces, and within ourselves emotionally, mentally, and energetically.
This season calls for an energetic “spring cleaning,” urging us to lighten our load and embrace practices that foster internal and external purity.
Incorporating Nature’s wisdom into your spring routine can significantly enhance this time of cleansing. Adopt a lighter, seasonal diet, utilize natural cleaning and self-care products, and engage in practices that re-balance the energetic mud in your life – structures, supports, that which brings heaviness. We want some mud, and typically after winter, there may be too much of it in our lives.
Naturally, this notion of cleansing and shedding may generate feelings of overwhelm or uncertainty. Where do we begin and with what?
This is where we may turn to the wisdom of our inner child.
Awakening the Inner Child:
The InnerSpark Wheel, composed of eight archetypes correlating with the year’s eight seasons, identifies early spring with The Initiate archetype—our inner child. This phase symbolizes beginnings, rebirth, innocence, and the uninhibited innocence and curiosity that propels us toward growth and discovery.
Our inner children, or Initiates, possess an intrinsic wisdom about our true essence and the paths that authentically call us forward. They intuitively know what needs to be released to embark on new beginnings.
Engaging with this aspect of ourselves, we’re encouraged to:
Embrace Innocence and Curiosity: Allow your inner child to guide your rejuvenation process. Their instinctual understanding of what needs to be shed can illuminate your path to renewal.
Detoxify and Make Space: Just as we prepare a garden for new growth, our beings require weeding and tilling. Engage in practices that clear physical, emotional, and spiritual clutter, setting the stage for fresh starts and flourishing dreams.
Ask For Guidance: Let your inner child or Initiate lead you for a whole day. What do they wish to wear? What do they wish to do with the day? What can they share with you about what brings you joy and where to concentrate your precious energy in the season to come and beyond?
A Unique Opportunity to Align
In conclusion, spring offers a unique opportunity to rejuvenate and align with the vibrant energy of renewal. This literal and energetic rebirth is a gift not to be taken lightly. It’s a time to reflect, cleanse, and open ourselves to the possibilities of new growth.
As you navigate this transformative season, consider how you can integrate these principles into your life, inviting vibrancy, balance, and joy into each day.
Here’s to a spring filled with vitality and joyful beginnings!
