Empowering Womxn’s Innate Wisdom

In this episode of Healing Feminine Shame, I am joined by a truly phenomenal soul, Maryn Green of www.indiebirth.org.

Maryn Green has been attending women as a midwife since 2009; first as a licensed midwife and now as an independent, autonomous midwife in Sedona, Arizona. Maryn is well known for her international association, the Indie Birth Association, which serves and educates women and midwives all over the world. She has co-authored a book about Indie Birth and recorded almost 200 (and counting!) podcasts (“Taking Back Birth”) that encourage women and midwives to rethink what they have been taught, and re-connect with ancient wisdom in combination with current research and knowledge. With Margo, Maryn has co-founded the first Indie Birth Midwifery School in 2017. Maryn has been taught by witnessing hundreds of undisturbed births, the best of which have been the births of her own 10 children. Maryn enjoys spending time in the Red Rocks of Sedona, Arizona, hiking with her husband, kids and dogs.

For starters, I am completely in love with all that she’s doing and could probably talk to her for hours about a million different things. In this episode, I felt called to to dive into the notion of empowering women’s choices and autonomy about their health and bodies.

As a species, we’re continually sterilizing ourselves and severing our connection with our innate, ancient wisdom.

Join us as Maryn Green, midwife and co-founder of IndieBirth.org, and I dive into the importance of empowering womxn to take their health into their hands, to sink into the beautiful “place of the unknown,” and to create a menu of options for themselves, whether in pregnancy, healing dis-ease, or even painting a room!

We explored the wisdom of the body, how things like the mother wound, shame, outdated beliefs, and more can prevent us from hearing our intuition, and more.

More than ever it seems we’re not trusting our bodies, we’re disconnected from our intuition, we’re made to believe that we don’t know what’s best for us and have to look outside of ourselves… We’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences. Please share them below!

Feminine Shame: The Root of Our Disconnection From Nature

In most all modern folks, the actual root cause of cycles of burnout, physical health challenges, stress, and feeling like there’s just something “wrong” with you is our disconnection from Nature. This disconnection stems from Feminine Shame. Feminine Shame will have you feeling like you’re just going through the motions. Like somehow life has become…

Q: How Do I Know What I Truly Want?

“I feel like I’ve lost touch with what I actually enjoy and I don’t even know what I want anymore. How do I know if something is truly aligned for me, or just something I think I should want?” This is one of the most honest and important questions we can ask ourselves. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3ep4NZ63MI And…

Sacred Discipline: How to Stop Forcing Your Life and Allow Yourself to Be Forged

For many people, discipline has become synonymous with force. Pushing harder. Trying harder. Controlling ourselves more effectively. Overriding our needs, suppressing our emotions, and grinding our way toward some future version of ourselves that we hope will finally feel worthy, successful, healthy, or fulfilled. It’s no wonder so many people have a complicated relationship with…

Hi, I’m Devon.

I believe many of the ways we’ve been taught to live—and even many of the ways we’ve been taught to heal—lead to disconnection from ourselves.

Through InnerSpark, I guide people to the root of what’s keeping them depleted, overwhelmed, unwell, and not fully themselves, so they may create a simpler, more natural way of living.

Through cultivating whole-person self-care, living the wisdom of nature and daily and seasonal rhythms, you can come into a deeper relationship with life itself.
